A Bit Of Light Reading - Books We Found Useful. 1. Travel With Children - Lonely Planet Series.

When we first came up with the idea of take the girls travelling around the world we weren't sure where to start. Countless hours of internet searching gave us lots of fragmented information but what we really needed was something we could read in our own time and come back to for reference. After a quick search on Amazon we ordered several books.

Reading about the logistics of travelling around the world and travelling with children is a fantastic first step. It allows you to try and absorb some of the advice and visualise you and your family in a similar situation.

Here are three of the books that we recommend because they really helped us. (They were also great for lending to worried family members who are convinced that you are insane!).

Travel With Children - Lonely Planet Books.  This was our first book. It's written by people have actually travelled themselves with young children and it covers babies right through to teenagers. Of course not all of the book is relevant to each individual family, but it's all an interesting read. The book is broken down in bite size chapters covering all the essentials such as family health, budget planning, dealing with the unexpected, transportation considerations and very handy recommendations (from experience) about travelling times/ seasons/ routines. It also has a great section about experiences of travelling through all the different continents with children. The book isn't exhasutive, but it's a great starting point for families considering travelling.

Round The World Travel With Children - If We Can Do It, So Can You!

Almost a year ago to the day we returned from a round the world adventure with our two daughters. We had the most amazing time and have all blossomed so much as a result of our journey.

We're an average UK family, nothing special. My husband and I were 30 years old when we set off. Our girls were 6 and 8 years old. We're not wealthy, didn't have a sudden windfall or inheritance - just used all our resources and effort to make it happen.

It did .... and it was AMAZING! I'd like to share with you exactly how we planned and made travelling around the world a reality, as well as sharing some of our experiences along the way.

I hope you find some of this information useful. Get in touch if there's anything specific you'd like to ask.
